2.00pm Registration, meet and greet.
Welcome
from the Villa Seligmann by Artistic Director Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarckand
Alex Klein, convenor of European Cantors Association

3.00pm Session: A Tribute to Israel Alter by his nephew Cantor Beny Meissner,
Beny's family home before the war had been Hannover, and his uncle Israel Alter was the Oberkantor there from 1925 – 1935.
In this session, Beny will show items from the Israel Alter archives at the Villa Seligmann, demonstrate his artistry and
present recordings of Alter's magnificent voice illuminating Hannover once more with his genius.

6.00 pm Synagogue
Opening ceremony with welcome from Michael Fürst, President of the Association of Jewish Communities in Lower Saxony,
Chairman of Jewish Community in Hannover, Vice President of the Memorial Foundation of Jewish Culture.

ECA Symposium ‘The Genius of Cantor Leib Glantz’ 
with Cantor Jerry Glantz, Maestro Alexander Tsaliuk, Cantor Joseph Ness, Cantor Daniel Mutlu, Cantor Beny Maissner and Maestro Arkadi Feldman

followed by lunch

Afternoon: Villa Seligmann
ECA Convention Sessions including delegate contributions on the Theme of the progress of synagogue music in the last 75 years

: Synagogue:
Cantorial Concert : always the convention favourite, featuring convention delegates and the Community Choir of Hannover

Monday 27 January - International Holocaust Memorial Day and the 75th Anniversary of The Liberation of Auschwitz

Morning
: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Visit to Parliament (Landtag of Lower Saxony) and the Memorial Centre at Ahlem

Afternoon: Villa Seligmann
ECA Convention closing sessions

Evening: Hannover Congress Centre: The Night Holocaust Concert
Narrator, soloists, symphony orchestra and 100 voice choir, perform Elie Wiesel's Holocaust memoir 'Night' set to music
by esteemed Cantor and Composer Leib Glantz, orchestrated by Cantor Joseph Ness.
Featuring the and Vilnius State Choir as well as Moscow and Hannover Jewish choirs.


Tuesday 28 January

Morning:
Visit to site of Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp (one hour’s drive from Hannover)

Her motto was that "we need to take responsibility to properly support and maintain this vital part of Jewish life and worship.  This represents hundreds of years of thriving Jewish life in Europe and we need to preserve it for generations to come"
